Amanda & Brian’s Wind-Whipped Wedding in Nags Head
Some weddings are all about perfect sunshine and calm seas — Amanda and Brian’s wasn’t one of them… and I absolutely loved it. They tied the knot in Nags Head with the wind whipping off the ocean, turning their one-hour wedding session into a whirlwind (literally) of fun and energy.
Amanda and Brian brought along their three beautiful daughters, who added so much warmth and joy to the day. While the gusts had everyone’s hair dancing in the breeze, it also gave us some truly dynamic, magazine-worthy moments. If you’ve never seen a wedding dress come alive in a Nor’easter, you’re missing out — the movement, the drama, the feeling that Mother Nature herself is part of the celebration.
I’ve always had a soft spot for couples who embrace the unpredictable Outer Banks weather. There’s something unforgettable about saying “I do” in the middle of a storm, laughing through the gusts, and leaning into the moment. Amanda and Brian did just that, and their wedding was every bit as adventurous and heartfelt as they are.
If you’re planning your own wedding in the Outer Banks, don’t shy away from a breezy forecast — sometimes the stormiest days make for the most magical photographs.
When I was growing up, my family would take vacations to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. I remember body surfing in the waves, fishing off the piers, and building sand castles. As my life has unfolded, I have found myself lucky enough to live on the OBX with my wife, Amy, raising our young son James in the sand.
When you book your OBX wedding, it’s one of the few times during your life when your whole family comes together to join one another in celebration. I am a wedding photographer at the beach... I specialize in the immortalizing the celebration, love and new beginnings that happen on your day. My fun and relaxing style adds to the energy of the day without taking away from the stars of the show.
I have been photographing since 2001, and there are few backdrops as beautiful as our Outer Banks beaches. So, whether you’ve booked one of the huge houses in Corolla, or have nestled in the quiet corners of Rodanthe, or are enjoying views of the Hatteras Lighthouse, I’d love to talk with you about photographing your wedding. Call me, text me, or email me to get to know me a little better. Until then, peruse the galleries, and start dreaming about your OBX beach wedding!
I love Outer Banks Wedding Photography, I love being an Outer Banks Wedding Photographer and I want to love photographing your wedding as well!
