Every family has at least one relative like this one at their wedding!
During the course of a normal wedding, I do a significant amount of people watching. Being a photographer, it's somewhat less creepy and more socially acceptable. What you have to realize is that I am paid to not only capture moments but also bring out the personalities of the guests.
This fantastic portrait began after the formals of a wedding in Carova (4WD path). Our "rocker" was a relative of the bride and had been tasked with playing ceremony music. As he was playing, I got several shots of him, of course; but he had such an overwhelming personality in the way he played and in his mannerisms that I knew I had to give him a special place in their wedding album. So, in one of the last formals, I leaned over to the guitarist, and asked him if he would be interested in doing a "photo bomb". He agreed. so at the right moment, just as I was taking the picture, he did an extraordinary beach stage dive right into the middle of the scene!
The personality captured in this pic makes it one of my favorite photos of the year! Here's to you, Mr. Beach-Wedding-Guitarist!
